You can have adventures at home…
Last night in Shasta. I’m driving down the street and it’s dark. I see a man with a vest coming toward me, except he was 8 ft up in the air and coming my way. As I approach and my headlights hit him I see he is on a horse! It’s winter, snowy, cold. He is riding down the street on a horse.
I go to pick up dinner for a friend. I drive to her house about an hour later and in my rear view mirror and figure with a reflective coat is heading toward me 8 feet in the air. This time I know. I stop. I wait. When he gets close enough I say, “good evening. Nice Horse. I’m just curious…What’s up?”.
He says, “I’m out for a BEER”. He is slurring at this point. “I have a car, I just wanted to have a drink so I took my horse to the bar”. Makes sense but… Hysterical! The horse was not happy and was wet and seemed cold. The man was happy and seemed drunk. Now I’ve heard of a one-horse
town and Shasta’s small but not that small…but I guess today I found a new definition for “one horse town”. I wished him well and sped off in my 8 horsepower Jeep into the night.
