After a long day of working and flying I landed at SNA (John Wayne). I did not know the piece of paradise that awaited me. The drive down Pacific Hwy was sad with the recent news of Kobe Bryant (this was the road he took to SNA as he lived in the hilltops here) and the memories of having been there before to celebrate my friend ASTRO.
Today, however, the sun was out. I arrived in the quaint beach town of Laguna. It is Orange County, however the residents here do their best to preserve the Cali Beach town feel. They succeed.
Today I arrived to a real treat…the Surf and Sand. The hotel is located “on the beach” just steps away from some private time on a quiet beach…it’s Heaven and it’s literally on the beach.
The biggest surprise was that the room faces the ocean with balconies right over the waves. The hotel is located on the hill just above the beach so you can sit and take in the sunset. At night you can leave the windows open and sleep to nature’s sounds of lapping waves. It’s hard not to “relax”. DO IT. It’s worth the drive and the moment of feeling close to God, nature and heaven, all within the city.
