ON 1/4/14 FOUR years ago today I had the honor of officiating the ceremony of my dear friends Stephanie and Shawn in Iceland. When they asked me to do this honor they didn’t know I was from a long line of preacher’s and it was my calling and my joy. My Dad had been a preacher, my ancestors had started a Dutch reform church in the homeland – all had lost their licenses or been removed – but it was just as PERFECT as the day had been. It was crisp, cold and clear for our 4 (that number again) hours of light. They were married in a gorgeous scene on the banks of a frozen lake near Reykjavik. With the power vested in me by the internet, they were officially married. I then became the official photographer assistant as we journeyed around the frozen island of Iceland to frozen lakes, volcanos and finally to the southernmost point of Iceland by the sea (as seen above). Here they took pictures outside and not inside the church. As any officiant worth their salt should, I dressed in the full robe and Cossack hat (as the bride would have it). Later we had a wedding feast and put on our Michelin tire fluffy suits to chase the northern lights.

I am posting this late as I left 1/5/18 for Cuba and forgot to hit send AND as TODAY is 1/14 – Those numbers again and my late FATHER’s BIRTHDAY.  He would be proud for me to post this in his honor and in his footsteps.

Speaking of Dad…I’m writing his memoirs. His Bday might be a good time to mention that. He didn’t live a conventional life…thus Me. His story must be told.
