(Pig and the Lady- Vietnamese)
Honolulu has a food culture of its own. It’s hard to beat the”culinary cross culture” which is prevalent in Honolulu.
Let me give you a quick tour.

First, did you know that Honolulu has a China town? I found myself at LADY and the PIG and was strangely delighted as it fit into my theme this week. For some reason (blaming it on the sea air) I had detoured off a healthy diet and into pigging out on whatever satisfied my suddenly demanding taste buds.
Lady and the Pig itself is somewhat shabby, not like shabby chic, but shabby been here serving great food for a long time shabby. The cement stairs to the banquet rooms and cardboard boxes lining the hallways gave me pause. The food gave me a feeling of sheer delight.

(try the Duck Pho)

(scrumptous Rice (GF) flour shrimp)
Lady and the Pig is an authentic Vietnamese restaurant with (bonus) an amazing bar. The cocktails will appropriately make your tail curl. The dessert will leave you licking the trough.
SUSHI SASABUNE

Calling all serious Sushi Lovers…Run! Don’t walk. Better yet Uber, this amazing fine is in a strip mall off the beaten path.

My recommendation is to order the Omakase (chef’s tasting menu). This is a meal for die-hard sushi aficionados only. Sasabune’s chefs really take pride in their presentation. What I’m saying here is the Omakase looks as it tastes. This is an experience you’ll want to repeat.

This is the first Sushi restaurant where I actually said “I can’t eat another course…unless well…”
Finish it all off with a SOFT SERVE DOLE Pineapple Ice Cream at the Mauna Surf Rider. While you’re there also grab a pinacoloda and sit under the Banyan Tree.
