This non-tourist town plays host to a Spring (March) Jazz fest and most famously home to Europe’s longest castle (Over 1,000 meters). It’s a close walk to the castle from the main town and then it’s a long walk through history. The winds or way across the hill and down to the river, all the while overlooking beautiful vast views of the alt stadt (old city) below and the river.
Walk along the castle and take the winding path down to the old town…and I’ll tell you a secret. If you cross the bridge with the lions you can walk directly from Germany into Austria. No passport required.
Reward yourself at an outdoor cafe and enjoy the views. If you’re looking for an enchanting detour, it’s worth the stroll.
