Travel went wrong story number..??

Did I say St John’s Newfoundland? Oh well… Hello from Saint John’s New Brunswick.
Did I mention I started with a broken toe from a luggage incident?

After several hours flying and a long layover, I boarded my flight to St John’s. Lucky for me I sat next to a man who said he was a native. I, knowing a little about the island, I thought I’d pump him for places to see. When the places he mentioned were a cemetery and there was no eastern point ..I became concerned. He relayed how some prince came to town and called this place St John’s. It is actually Saint John. NO S. (K I booked this through a to air agent and used the S and the Newfoundland). I began that travelers panic.

I disembarked and saw French! Gasping I ran to the nearest rent a car and said ‘Can I see a map?’. They handed me a town map. I said NO ! of the country! Where the Hell am I? Point please!

At that moment the overhead called out the last flight back to Toronto. Ugh. Upon discovery, I realized I was in the other St John without the s. Sigh. Not my fault I asked for the other but…I rebooked for the first flight to Halifax followed by ST JOHN’S.

Upon arrival, I took a cab to the hotel and thought I’ll have a nice dinner. It was late. I ordered a cab to the nearest restaurant. Someone took my cab. I yelled as if I lived in NYC. I found a cab who dropped me at the restaurant which promptly slammed their doors just as I walked up and said the kitchen is closed just as my cab sped away.

Here I am .. Where am I? I stumbled downhill on a broken toe and was looking at the phone to find a restaurant for dinner. Stumble, stop.

I did this over and over. Some boys were watching me in the distance intently. They walk up and said, “COOL! Are you playing Pokey Man GO??

I had to laugh… Perception is everything. To them I was having the best time…Going with their version!

Cheers! Found dinner.

MY ADVICE: GO TO NEW BRUNSWICK on PURPOSE and have LOBSTER. It’s the BEST. GO to NEWFOUNDLAND and see Nature. It’s Breathtaking.

Oh and ONE LAST THING..”Become an Official Newfoundlander”. I’m one now. It requires three things 1) Eat something local 2) Drink the Rum 3) Kiss a COD. One word of advice..Everyone kisses the same cod so make sure you are FIRST in LINE!
