Should you be in Seattle or visiting and you are looking for a way to relax, enjoy, impress and spend some solitude with someone special let me suggest this little gem of a plan. I have worked this out through many means of transportation and I find this the most fun and efficient. Sea Plan + Object of your affection + reservation at the Orcas Outlook Inn or Rosario Resort + libation of your choice = Guaranteed splendid getaway will have you enjoying a weekend away with time to play!
Start by taking a Seaplane from Kenmore Air on Lake Union (fun, easy, moderately affordable). The trip to the San Juans over the lakes and Puget Sound is gorgeous and getting there is part of the experience. Make the most of every moment of this adventures and romantic vacation.
Fly from Lake Union to Orcas Island. Your float plane with land at the beautiful Rosario Resort, once a property the Oprah herself wished to purchase. Stop and have a libation and or enjoy dinner on the veranda. From here you can stay in the Inn or move to Eastsound where there is a little more activity, not a lot, but enough.
I choose to stay at the Outlook Inn. As the name implies it looks over the bay and town of East sound. This is one of my favorite views.
